Ready to take your Spanish to the next level? Take a deep dive into authentic Mexican culture with Na’atik’s nonprofit Spanish Immersion program and create unforgettable memories while making a positive impact. Off the beaten path in the city of Felipe Carrillo Puerto, our school is at the heart of a community untouched by tourism. English is not widely spoken here, giving you the perfect chance to elevate your Spanish in genuine everyday scenarios.

You will stay with one of our welcoming homestay families, allowing you to experience the local culture and ensure Spanish language practice throughout the day. Your host family provides three meals a day featuring the delicious local cuisine from across the region.
Our standard program is available for stays of one to eight weeks. If you would like a longer experience, please get in touch with us to discuss your options.
On top of 18 in-class hours per week with highly trained bilingual teachers, your program includes:
A guided walking tour of our historic city, which was once the capital of the Maya nation.
A welcome meal showcasing popular local delicacies such as salbutes and panuchos.
An excursion to a beautiful local cenote.
A cooking class where you can try your hand at a regional specialty (for stays of two weeks or more).
We also offer a wide range of optional activities and excursions.
Na’atik is a nonprofit language school, with your experience helping to provide much-needed subsidized English classes and free library access to local and Indigenous students. Na’atik uses local suppliers and partners, ensuring that proceeds stay within, and help grow, the community in Felipe Carrillo Puerto. Accommodation
We strongly recommend that you stay with a homestay family when you study with us. This is where you’ll master your language learning and will truly immerse yourself. All our homestay families try to make your stay comfortable so you can rest and have a wonderful time during your time in Carrillo Puerto. Homestays include three traditional homecooked meals a day.

Teaching Philosophy
Our philosophy is to teach real-life, communicative language skills in a student-centered environment that encourages our students to continue learning and growing outside the classroom. Our main goal is to get our students communicating in their target language, not to overanalyze grammar.

Our Town
Na’atik’s colorful, bustling town, commonly called ‘Carrillo’, is just one hour south of Tulum and two hours north of Belize in Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula. Carrillo is surrounded by green, low-brush jungle in the center of the state of Quintana Roo in the heartland of the Maya resistance. Some of the world’s most spectacular Caribbean beaches are just over an hour away.

How To Get Here
Most of our students arrive in Mexico at either Cancun Airport or Tulum-Felipe Carrillo Puerto Airport. Transport options down to the school include bus, train and rental car. We also offer airport pickups in our school minivan. Please read our travel guide and recommendations when arranging your journey. Our team are also happy to provide guidance for you specifc journey.
