Immersion is more than just language. We hope you explore the rich Maya culture and impressive natural beauty that surround us at Na’atik during your stay. Here are some of our most popular activities and excursions that will take you deep into the Maya world of Quintana Roo.

Maya Cenote

Visit a beautiful local cenote. Located nearby to Carrillo, Cenote Sayab Kuxtal is one of the area’s most photogenic and relaxing locations. A second cenmote is accessible by guided bike tour for an additional cost.

Jungle Lagoon

Transport yourself to a virgin Maya jungle lagoon where you find all your stresses and worries vanish. Venture out in a kayak into the pristine waters where you will see tropical birds and learn about the flora and fauna of the region.

Cooking Maya-style

Cook a traditional Maya meal with our fantastic cooking teachers. You will make a local, delicious snack, a salsa, and a fresh, seasonal fruit juice from the region all from scratch.

Jungle bike tour for immersion students led by our guide

Bike in the sian ka’an bioreserve

Cycle six kilometers into the quiet, mystic beauty of the Sian Ka’an Biosphere jungle on a guided tour where you can see an abundance of tropical birds, local wildlife and take a refreshing dip in a hidden lagoon.

Tortilla making

Join one of our homestay moms in their home to learn the art of making tortillas by hand. You will make the tortilla masa (dough) from freshly ground corn, along with a spicy salsa dip and refreshing, seasonal fruit juice from the region. ¡Delicioso!

Maya artist t-shirt screen Printing

Print your beautiful Maya design t-shirt at the Ka’ kuxtal cooperative workshop in Carrillo. Ka’ kuxtal, meaning ‘to revive’ in Maya, promotes handcrafted, artisanal products made in the Zona Maya of Quintana Roo.

Relax and let our masseuse, Sara, work out all of your stress, aches and pains with her magical, deep-tissue massage where she fuses traditional Maya massage with expert Swedish massage training and experience. Our students wish they could take Sara home with them!

The enchanting Bacalar Lagoon, also known as the 'Lagoon of seven colors'.

Chacchoben and Bacalar

Discover the stories of the pirates, take a boat ride and swim in the Bacalar Lagoon of Seven Colors. Visit the mysterious and beautiful Maya ruins of Chacchoben surrounded by jungle where you might share the experience with the local spider monkeys!

Tulum ruins, beach and town

Head to the spectacular coastal Maya ruins of Tulum perched on the edge of a cliff overlooking the Caribbean Sea. Explore the shops for souvenirs, take a boat tour, snorkel and relax at the world-renowned Tulum beach. If you’re lucky, you might even see a sea turtle!

Cobá ruins and cenote swim

Transport back in time to the sublime, jungle-surrounded Cobá ruins where you can still climb the tallest pyramid in Quintana Roo. Spend the afternoon cooling off and relaxing in and around an alluring, cold cenote
