Recipe of the month: Tostadas de Ceviche de Atún

When temperatures rise in the Mexican Caribbean, fresh and simple meals become a daily essential. Across Mexico, seafood inspired dishes are especially popular during hot weather because they are light, refreshing, and easy to prepare. One of the quickest and most affordable options is tuna ceviche tostadas, a practical variation of traditional ceviche that can be made in less than an hour with only a handful of ingredients.

Although classic ceviche is usually prepared with fresh fish or shrimp marinated in citrus juice, canned tuna offers a convenient alternative that still delivers the bright and refreshing flavors associated with coastal Mexican cuisine. Combined with crunchy vegetables, creamy avocado, and plenty of lime juice, these tostadas are perfect for lunch, dinner, or sharing with friends and family on a warm afternoon.

Ingredients

  • 2 cans of tuna

  • 2 tomatoes

  • 1 cucumber

  • 1 avocado

  • 1 lime

  • Tostadas

Instructions

  1. Dice the tomatoes and cucumber into small cubes.

  2. Drain the tuna and place it into a large mixing bowl.

  3. Add the chopped vegetables and mix well.

  4. Squeeze fresh lime juice over the mixture until evenly coated.

  5. Cut the avocado into cubes and gently fold it into the ceviche.

  6. Place the mixture onto crispy tostadas before serving.

  7. Enjoy immediately while fresh and cold.
