El Día de la Revolución
The Day of the Revolution in Mexico, El Día de la Revolución, is celebrated on November 20th and celebrates the start of a 10-year revolution that began in 1910 to end the struggle against then-president José de la Cruz Porfirio Díaz Mori, following an ever growing rift between the rich (in power), and the rest of the population who lived and worked in poverty.
Across Mexico people enjoy a public holiday on the third Monday of November, with schools, museums and many businesses closing to enjoy the and parades and festivities which take place over the weekend. In Carrillo there is a big parade ending in the park, with people dressing up as key figures from the revolution along with characters from more modern popular culture.
