Valentines Day
The celebration of Valentine’s Day dates back to Rome in the 3rd century, when Emperor Claudius II prohibited marriages among young people, as he believed that young men made better soldiers if they did not have emotional ties. However, a priest named Valentine opposed this order and began secretly performing marriage ceremonies for young couples. When the emperor learned about the priest’s disobedience, he sentenced him to death on February 14, 270. Since then, this date has been commemorated in his honor.
Valentine’s Day at Na’atik
This year, together with our English students, we celebrated Valentine’s Day through various activities aimed at strengthening the bonds of friendship, respect, and camaraderie among our students.
Among the activities carried out, we held two workshops led by our librarian. In each session, students learned about the origin of Valentine’s Day, explored interesting facts about this celebration, and participated in a short quiz covering general knowledge related to the holiday. These activities not only helped students reinforce their English skills, but also allowed them to expand their vocabulary related to Valentine’s Day.
Different activities were also conducted in the classrooms, where each teacher, together with their group, celebrated and highlighted the values of friendship, respect, and solidarity. Through these activities, students were able to express their appreciation for their classmates and friends, and even for their family members, as some of them prepared small thoughtful gifts for them.
Without a doubt, we love not only being part of our students’ academic development, but also witnessing their growth and the bonds they build and strengthen day by day with the people who are part of this student community.
