Our visit to Xcaret
Our teen and young adult English students (and the Na’atik staff) had an absolute blast visiting local eco adventure park; Xcaret, near Playa del Carmen a couple of weeks ago.Xcaret has over 50 natural and cultural attractions to enjoy. These include underground rivers, cenotes, cultural exhibits and an evening show…but first we had some work to do…Our students were split into teams and were pitted against each other in a scavenger hunt. The students had to race around the park and complete 11 tasks by talking to tourists and other visitors to find people who had met a celebrity, who were a twin and loads of other fun questions – all in the guise of practicing their English. Learning is always better when it’s fun!Funded by our Beyond the Classroom raffle from Zamas Hotel in Tulum and a generous donation of free tickets from Xcaret themselves, this was a great opportunity for our students to practice their English and build their confidence. We believe that with both our English program and Spanish study abroad students immersion is key. If you don’t use what you’ve learned in real life situations it won’t stick as much.Throughout the day we also enjoyed swimming, floating down the river, exploring the park and watching a spectacular evening show. Thanks again to everyone who donated to our Beyond the Classroom fundraiser for making this amazing day possible. The students got so much out of it. If you’d like to support our fundraising you can find out more here.
