Homemade food delivered

In Carrillo, you can get homemade baked goods, meals and snacks delivered to your door by using the Facebook page Ofertas Felipe Carrillo Puerto (Felipe Carrillo Puerto Offers).Since March, when Covid-19 impacted employment in the area, there has been an upsurge in the number and type of tasty treats. Available to order any day of the week, local delights include handmade tortillas, empanadas, and tamales. For more substantial meals, there are nourishing bowls of caldo de pollo (chicken soup), cochinita pibil (tender slow-cooked pork), and pollo empanizado con arroz y ensalada (breaded chicken with rice and salad). In addition to Yucatecan food, you can also find dishes such as Caribbean chicken with coconut rice and delicious, comforting plates of vegetarian lasagne.A new local enterprise, Valentino's, Pastas con Amor FCP (Valentino's, Pastas with love FCP: Felipe Carrillo Puerto), cooks up some of the best pasta in town. They offer a small but tasty range of dishes, including a delicious vegetable lasagne made with mushrooms, squash, carrots, chaya (a local vegetable similar to spinach), and red pepper.Valentino’s is run by Licey who is from Carrillo but returned to town from Playa del Carmen due to the pandemic. A vegetarian for three years, Licey was taught how to cook Italian food by her son’s father, who once lived in Italy. However, she added her own touch by practicing with different recipes until she had perfected the dish. Licey said that she decided to offer vegetarian dishes as an alternative to meat and to spread the joy of eating vegetables. There are also plenty of options in Carrillo for those with a sweet tooth, such as brownies, lemon pie and donuts. A favorite of Piero and Madeline, our director Catherine’s children, are tasty cinnamon buns, that they exclaim ‘are just AMAZING’.
