Basic

Notes In Spanish

This podcast is run by a couple: Marina from Spain and Ben from England. They start the audios by introducing useful phrases and key vocabulary before diving into a conversation where you will hear them put it all into practice. The back and forth dynamic between the couple is light and entertaining and they do a great job of explaining the target language. We recommend it for beginner/basic-level students but there are also audios for intermediate and advanced students.

DuolingoDuolingo is a classic and if you've yet to give it a go, we really recommend it as it is a great way to start building your vocabulary. The company has also released a new app called Tinycards, which uses flashcards to help students memorize and revise the chosen themes.

Lyrics TrainingDo you struggle to hear the lyrics in Spanish songs? This amazing website, also available as an app, uses music videos on Youtube to improve your listening comprehension by requiring you to type in the lyrics as the song progresses. It has different levels, so Beginners fill out 10% of the words, Intermediate 25% and Advanced 50%. If you're feeling brave enough, the Expert level will expect you to complete all the lyrics. Good luck!

Intermediate to Advanced

Radio Ambulante

An NPR podcast which shares personal stories from all around Latin America will really engage you while testing your accent comprehension. One week you will be listening to a Cuban accent talk about how the fall of the Berlin Wall led to an influx of bicycles into Havana, while the next week you will hear a Mexican accent reflect on the ever-changing relationship between the Mexican city of Juarez and the US city of El Paso.

BBC News MundoThis is the BBC's Spanish news channel on Youtube. They upload informative videos on events happening around the world and language focused videos such as why the letters B and V sound the same in Spanish or why some countries in Latin America use 'vos' and others don't.

Young Learners
