Activities & Excursions

Immersion is about more than just language. We offer a wide range of activities and excursions showcasing local culture, history and natural beauty. These excursions can be added to your Spanish or Maya immersion experiences either at the time of booking or during your stay. Our immersion team will be more than happy to discuss the details of any excursion with you. Contact us at mas@naatikmexico.org

Inquire about pricing for families or groups of four or more. Some of our activities and excursions have minimum numbers required to run, however, our team will be able to provide a quote for a private tour or activity.

    Maya Cenote

    All of our immerson programs include a trip to a nearby cenote. These striking natural sinkholes are unique to the Yucatán Peninsula.

    Cool off in the delightful waters or simply soak in the beautiful surroundings.

    This excursion is included in all packages at no extra charge.

    Tortilla Making Class

    Join one of our local cooperatives “Canixa” to learn how to make delicious corn tortillas by hand!

    This excursion is included in bookings of two weeks or more. Otherwise, it can be added for $45 USD per person.

    If this excursion is not available, it will be replaced with a traditional Antojitos (traditional appetizers) cooking class with one of our host families.

    Melipona Stingless Bee Sanctuary Tour

    This guided tour of a local stingless melipona bee sanctuary gives a fascinating insight into the vital role the region's native bee species have in the peninsula's ecosystem, history and culture.

    Price: $50 USD per person Accompanied children under 12 free

    Chacchoben Ruins and Bacalar's Lagoon of Seven Colors

    Take a full day trip combining the incredible history and nature of the region. Visit the hidden jungle ruins of Chacchoben and then head south to the stunning Bacalar lagoon of seven colors.

    Maya Cultural Center 'Raxalaj'

    Visit Raxalaj, a local Maya cultural center aimed at promoting Maya traditions and keeping the rich knowledge of the Maya people alive.

    Experience a traditional ceremony and learn about local beliefs.

    Maya Jungle Bike Adventure

    This bicycle tour leads you six kilometers into the Carrillo jungle down the old railway track created in the early 1900s to transport raw chicle or gum to the ocean to be exported.

    A moderate fitness level is required due to heat and uneven terrain.

    Price: $55 USD per person

    Chacchoben Ruins

    Visit the Maya ruins of Chacchoben. Nestled away in the jungle this hidden gem is a chance to experience ruins away from the crowds.

    If you are lucky you may see some local wildlife including spider monkeys, lizards and armadillos.

    Price: $135 USD per person (two person minimum)

    Artisan Coffee Tasting Workshop

    Join Canixa, a local cooperative that supports small producers from across Mexico, for a unique tasting and cultural exchange. You’ll sample distinct varieties of Mexican coffee, learn about the people and regions behind each product, and take part in a conversation about coffee consumption in Mexico and the Maya Zone.

    Beyond coffee, you’ll also discover Canixa’s selection of artisanal products, such as cacao, honey, traditional drip-style coffee makers, and pottery crafted by hand. This is not a plantation visit, but rather an engaging experience where you can ask questions, taste, and, if you wish, purchase products directly (cash recommended).

    Maya Spiritual Ceremonies

    Maya spiritual practices are an important part of local culture and people from Felipe Carrillo Puerto and the surrounding communities rely on the support of practioners for their spiritual wellbeing needs.

    Maya - Swedish Fusion Massage

    Relax and let our masseuse, Sara, work out all of your stress, aches and pains with her magical, deep-tissue massage where she fuses traditional Maya massage with expert Swedish massage training and experience.

    Our students tell us they wish they could take Sara home with them!

    Traditional Embroidery Workshop

    Handcraft the perfect the souvenir of your time here with our guided embroidery class

    Choose from a number of different designs, including traditional Maya symbols, and combine your choice of colours.
