Mari's Champurrado

Our wonderful Administrative and Accounting Assistant, Mari, shares her favorite winter holiday drink to keep you all warm this festive season. This traditional Mexican beverage is sweet and full of cinnamony goodness. We’re sure it’ll go down a treat. Makes 4 cups.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 90g bar of drinking chocolate*

  • 10 tbsp plain flour

  • 190ml condensed milk

  • 1 can (340ml) evaporated milk

  • 250ml warm water

  • 500ml cold water

  • 5 cinnamon sticks

  • 3 tbsp sugar

PREPARATION:

  1. Add to a blender the flour, condensed milk, evaporated milk, warm water, bar of chocolate and sugar, then blend.

  2. In a pot, boil 500ml of water with the cinnamon sticks.

  3. Once boiled, add the blended mixture to the pot and stir for 10 minutes.

  4. When it starts to boil again, take off the heat and pour into your favorite mug to enjoy!

* For example, Abuelita hot chocolate.
