Camp Day 2018 - Photo Journal

Na'atik likes to celebrate Children's Day every year with a day camp for our primary school aged students. This year was no different thanks to our Beyond the Classroom donors and our great staff who made the day possible! So we wanted to share what we've been up to with all of you:We left from the school in the morning - waiting for your name to be called to get in the vans is so stressful!Balam Nah, where we held Camp Day, is one of our favorite places around Carrillo with it's beautiful lagoon and facilities. Here our students examine some tadpoles. And of course, everyone's favorite part is the pool! After the pool we formed into our teams. We had the:

Purple Cobras

Champions League

Captain America

Ghostbusters

Pirates

and last but not least, the Peacocks!

After we were divided into teams we played some games:  Could you win the hula hoop race?We also made some crafts and tie-dyed our camp shirts. After all of that we needed a break so we had some lunch. But after lunch we were right back at it with a relay race!Walking with a balloon between your legs is harder than it seems! And we wrapped up the day by singing some songs and roasting some marshmallows around the campfire. And we wrapped up the day by singing some songs and roasting some marshmallows around the campfire.

The best way to experience the Mexican lifestyle is in person, with a Na’atik Immersion experience. Not only do you live with a local Mexican-Maya family, sharing home-cooked meals and free time, but also receive expert instruction in your chosen language at our school. Best of all, every immersion experience helps fund our subsidized and free local education program, helping local students to access opportunities and make their own futures.
